Fair Trade the Holidays and Win Prizes with the FT Holiday Gift Challenge and FT Holiday Caroling!

Join us at Global Exchange as well as Fair Trade advocacy organizations, religious denominations and community groups across the country in our challenge to make your holiday purchases Fair Trade. Help spread the word to friends, family and neighbors via their Fair Trade Holiday Caroling program. If hundreds or thousands of us take some or all of these simple, fun, and meaningful actions to make a difference this holiday season, then together, we will transform the lives of countless farmers and artisans struggling to free their families from poverty!

FT Holiday Gift Challenge

Take the challenge to buy some or all of your holiday gifts Fair Trade this year and take the FT New Year’s Resolution. Download and copy the Fair Trade New Year’s Resolution (which includes the Fair Trade Holiday Gift Challenge), and let us know at www.globalexchange.org/campaigns/fairtrade/cocoa/resolution.html, so we can count how many people participated.

FT Caroling in your community and online!

Fair Trade Holiday Caroling is a great way to make a difference for Fair Trade artisans and farmers because it gives you a fun and entertaining way to educate neighbors who may never have heard about Fair Trade, and then ask them to commit to real action through the Fair Trade New Year’s Resolution in the Fair Trade Holiday Caroling Toolkit. By caroling early in December, you can invite neighbors, friends, and family to take the Fair Trade Holiday Gift pledge before they do their holiday shopping.

This year we have two exciting additions to the FT Caroling program: Virtual Caroling and Caroling Contest!

Virtual Caroling is a great way to spread the FT holiday cheer with friends and family all over the country. We invite you to use the Fair Trade Holiday Caroling Toolkit to create a Fair Trade caroling video or audio message to email to your friends and family! Post your videos at http://www.youtube.com/group/ftholidaycaroling and send your MP3’s to fairtrade@globalexchange.org to be uploaded on the website.

The Caroling Contest will reward the best Fair Trade Holiday Caroling in each of the following categories:

  • Video
  • MP3
  • Photo and 500-word story about your caroling experience

Courtney Lang, National Organizer | Fair Trade Campaigns

Courtney Lang brings over 5 years of community organizing to Fair Trade Towns USA, building both the Local Food and Fair Trade networks in Vermont. As Local Food Coordinator with City Market/Onion River Cooperative, Courtney worked with local producers, institutions and consumers to grow the local food system and organize a strategic model for community engagement through farm tours, workshops, and local food challenges. Like many in the Fair Trade industry, Courtney was inspired to take action in Fair Trade when she witnessed child-labor first hand in Costa Rica. As a founding member of Fair Trade Burlington, she has worked with economic development organizations, businesses, and consumers to build awareness of Fair Trade among Vermonters. She also worked with a Fair Trade USA licensee, Vermont Coffee Company, as Friend Ambassador where she united the story of Fair Trade to every purchase of coffee.
