“We’re not trying to create an institution. We’re trying to build a movement, making a difference in the world.” – Kirsten Moller, Global Exchange Co-founder

Kirsten Moller, a founding member of Global Exchange in 1988, has long been a leader in the effort to create a more just global society. She will be a featured Keynote Speaker at the Fair Trade Campaigns Conference, taking place in Chicago on the weekend of Oct. 26-28.

Kirsten’s passion for justice has led her across the world. In the 1980s she traveled Nicaragua to provide assistance in training badly needed machinists. Kirsten’s later work with Global Exchange also brought her to South Africa, Haiti, Honduras and Cuba. Recently Kirsten traveled a portion of the 5760 miles covered by the Caravan for Peace with Justice and Dignity, a campaign highlighting the hardships and difficulties facing immigrants to the United States. To fuel her incredible drive Kirsten draws from the examples set forth by the direct action of ordinary people who believe and are working to challenge injustice in the world. Keep a lookout for Kirsten as she continues to help new movements gain traction in coming years.

Over the course of her career Kirsten has remained dedicated to organizing at the grassroots level. Recently she had the opportunity to reconnect with her passion for organizing after transitioning to become the Director of Organizing for Global Exchange. Before her current position, Kirsten served tirelessly as the Executive Director of Global Exchange, working to employ a diverse array of strategies to empower people both domestically and abroad.

Listen here for a quick 20 second reflection from Kirsten on the value Global Exchange provides!

Kirsten hopes to see you at the conference!
