Amherst, Massachusetts

The Amherst Fair Trade Partnership, a non-profit organization sponsored in part by EarthAction, is committed to educating consumers and merchants about Fair Trade. The goal of the Partnership is to increase public awareness in Amherst and small towns throughout Massachusetts about Fair Trade principles and how these principles improve the lives of small farmers and crafts people throughout the globe. We hope to encourage consumers in Amherst to make a difference in the world through their everyday purchases. We are not asking consumers to buy more but to buy more consciously. We also will encourage merchants in Amherst to sell Fair Trade products, to the economic benefit of the producers of these products, to the merchants and to Amherst itself. Amherst became the fourth Fair Trade Town in America a few years ago.
