As part of campus Sustainability Week and a soft announcement of UD’s designation as a Fair Trade University, we held a fashion show event with both modeling and prizes. Student models showcased both the university’s Bookstore’s Alta Gracia spirit wear apparel and ethically sourced clothes from the local vendor, Fairly Simple. Fair trade items donated from the Bookstore were then raffled off.
To begin, the event also included info about the process of the fair trade campaign, and students had the opportunity to take the Slavery Footprint Survey in order to determine and reflect on the impact of the products they use daily in the number of human slaves implicated.
