Join the Fair Trade Towns Committee for a Virtual Letter Writing Party on Thursday, October 15th from 5-6pm on Zoom to get the vote out before the election. Vote Forward is a non-profit working to send letters out to underrepresented minorities to increase voter turnout. The letters are written simply to encourage people to vote, not to support a certain candidate and the Big Send Off date is on October 17th. Within the Fair Trade movement, we discuss the importance of “voting” with your dollar on a daily basis to support your values. However, we believe that it’s also important to vote in the upcoming election to elect representatives that share your values.
Pre-prepared packets with letter templates, instructions, blue pens, and stamps will be available for pickup at Humankind, the Fair Trade store downtown (982 Monterey St.) on Wednesday and Thursday before the event. If you are not able to pick up materials, no worries! You can register at votefwd.org to print your own templates for the event. We look forward to seeing you there!
