Fair trade apparel at your university
Are there any fair trade companies you have worked with to get fair trade apparel? What are some of the ways you have been able to get fair trade apparel on your campus?

We used a company called Alta Gracia, here is the website: http://altagraciaapparel.com/
They have been very helpful in getting living wage apparel!
Hi Darlene,
To my knowledge I haven’t come across any Fair Trade clothing that our
school’s Bookstore has been able to source. I believe there are T-shirts
made with “Fair Trade” cotton, but I’m not sure about apparel items.
At Siena College we have some Alta Gracia Products in our book store – Alta
Gracia is certified by the Workers Rights Consortium, very similar to the
third party auditing system as ILO, TransFair etc.
Alta Gracia is in over 200 college book stores.
Here’s some more information about them.

Hope this helps.

Hello Darlene!
In addition to Alta Gracia there are a few other vendors that may be able to fulfill your needs:
– Hae Now Organics
– Prana
– NoNasties
– Patagonia (soon)
Though you will need to check with your bookstore vendor to see if any of these groups are potential candidates given their various contract obligations.
PS: More options can also be found through the Fair Trade Federation!
Most eFollett and Barnes and Noble college bookstore can carry Alta
Gracia,
they are an approved vendor. We work with ethix
merchto order tshirts for clubs and
organizations
