Ben & Jerry’s Collaboration on Campus?

Benjamin Conard from FAIR TRADE SUNY GENESEO April 7, 2014

Ben & Jerry’s ice cream does not exist on our campus (and their closest Scoop Shop is an hour away) – what would be the best way to go about working with them? We have seen successful events on other campuses with them and would like to benefit from this as well!

  1. Hello Benjamin – who is your food service provider on campus? We have Sodexo and they are able to purchase B&J’s for our convenience store on campus.
I’m not sure what distributor it would come from……I can find that out tomorrow.

  2. Ann, I should have mentioned – we have an independent food service provider.

  3. It really seems to depend on the store…we just buy pints on our own for
    events.

  4. Your independent food service provider…have you talked with them to see if they would begin carrying B&J’s?

  5. I know with our campus, we have Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in our cafe/c-store which is used as a secondary dining service compared to the main dining facility. Perhaps something like this could be useful in bringing about not only good tasting treats but good quality and fair trade products. As for providing ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s for events, this is something we as a committee for the school are working on.

  6. Rockford does not have a scoop shop—but B&J will send coupons to use at the grocery store–Be sure to sign up for WFTD and get some coupons
