The Fair Trade movement is a large, diverse, and multifaceted network of advocates, consumers, producers, businesses, certifiers, NGO’s and more. Within this network, we all rely on one another to realize the full potential of Fair Trade. In March 2018, we’re gathering together to celebrate, explore, and connect individuals and organizations from across the movement – we hope you’ll join us.

Looking Back, Looking Ahead

In the five years since our last National Conference, Fair Trade Campaigns has experienced incredible growth. Fair Trade Towns expanded by 50 percent, and Fair Trade Colleges & Universities has grown exponentially, from 11 to 46 declared campuses. Fair Trade Schools and Congregations, programs that did not yet exist five years ago, today have 55 campaigns in 18 states. Heartfelt thanks to all of the advocates and organizers who are driving this change in their communities!

Since we last came together at a national level, Fair Trade Campaigns has also launched a new, five-year strategic plan. With the guidance of our National Steering Committee, and other partners and stakeholders, we have set this plan in motion to support and guide our continued growth in the years ahead.

We will draw from the pillars of the strategic plan to guide conversations at the conference: How do we leverage the exponential growth of Fair Trade Colleges & Universities to support and expand our work in other communities? How do we more closely align our work in Fair Trade with other pressing issues demanding our attention, from environmental protection to anti-trafficking?

Through keynotes, panels, workshops, and networking, the conference will inspire and equip attendees with practical tools to drive conscious consumerism in closer alignment with all of the partners across the Fair Trade movement. These conversations will reinforce our understanding that small, every day choices, behaviors and advocacy efforts can drive large scale impact – and create common ground for collaboration and greater impact moving forward.
