Here’s your chance to get hooked up with some great, free materials for that final Fair Trade Event of the year!
A number of generous donations have allowed us to support campaigns hosting a Fair Trade Study Break. Provide a short explanation of your plans in the comment section below and receive the following event package to help bolster your event:
- Fair Trade Coffee from EcoGrounds and…
- Fair Trade Chocolate from Green & Blacks and…
- Fair Trade Tea from Numi Tea and…
- Informational 1-Pagers on Coffee and Chocolate from Fair Trade Campaigns.
Thank you Numi, Green & Blacks, and EcoGrounds for the Donations!
For a few ideas to help get the ball rolling, read on below
Idea 1: Table with Fair Trade coffee, tea and chocolate
Give your classmates that extra boost as they head into or out of the library! Set up a table with Fair Trade Coffee (EcoGrounds), Tea (Numi Tea), and chocolate (Green & Blacks), as well as some materials highlighting what you have accomplished this year and are looking to achieve in the next. Use this as an opportunity to get the word out about your campaign!
Idea 2: Partner with an existing event
In the lead up to Finals week numerous groups on campus will be hosting events to prepare students and staff. Gauge the landscape and offer to ‘Fair Trade’ another group’s event! Reach out to clubs, departments and your food service provider to see if you can set up, sample, and introduce Fair Trade concepts to a new audience. Follow-up afterwards and continue building the partnership!
Idea 3: Fuel up with Fair Trade!
Last year Villanova University hosted a ‘Fuel up with Fair Trade’ event. Read through this one-pager to learn how to keep track of all the details and set up your own event on campus.

Stanford University’s Fair Trade Campaign will be doing a Fair Trade product giveaway to students in the dining halls the week before Finals Week (known here as Dead Week, the time when everyone will be furiously studying and stressed out), and, depending on how many Fair Trade product samples we are able to get, in the library as well. We plan on distributing chocolates, coffee, and tea along with catchy informational pamphlets about the importance of supporting Fair Trade in these industries.

Greetings from NDNU (Notre Dame de Namur University). For this years Fair Trade your finals, we will be partnering with or Sustainability club to bring Fair Trade items to our peers as they study for their finals. We are hoping to set up in the library, the place to be at during finals, and hand out tea and coffee or for the non-caffeine lovers, the chocolate. To make things more interesting, we hope to be able to raffle a fair trade long sleeve shirt. That way we see how many students pass by.
Carroll College will have a number of fair trade events going on during international week. We will be hosting a screening of “The Dark Side of Chocolate” to make students aware of child slavery issues in the ivory coast. We will also be having a fair trade sale where students can purchase scarves, bracelets, clothing, and chocolate. Lastly, we will be hosting a Fair Trade Friday where we will have informational booklets and cards available for people as well as samples of various fair trade products. We would love to us the free materials for this event!

Oregon State University is really stepping up the Fair Trade Campaign this year. We have reserved space in both our Library Quad and Memorial Union Quad to give out Fair Trade coffee/chocolate and informational materials. We are also pairing with our Waste Reduction projects team and Campus Recycling to give out Fair Trade coffee in free reusable mugs. The Valley Library provides carafes of free coffee to students in the lobby during dead and finals week, and we are currently in talks with their Sustainability Advocates to make sure the coffee served is Fair Trade certified. We are so excited to be hosting the Fair Trade Study Break as a great way to wrap up Fall Term!

UCLA is has a regulars farmers market on campus where we distribute Fair Trade coffee. We are scheduled to table next right before finals week and have many people who regularly come to our table along with newcomers. Right before finals, many people will surely stop by for coffee and I think having new items would be a great way to re-capture attention and generate further interest.
Saint Joseph’s University will be raiding the on-campus library in the middle of finals week to distribute Fair Trade chocolate accompanied with a “What is Fair Trade?” pamphlet. The kit would be very useful (especially if it is loaded with chocolate!!) because it would provide us with extra goods to give out. Thanks!
