Fuel up for Finals at Green Mountain College

Screening of ‘Connected by Coffee’ and Speaker from Dynamite Coffee

The Fair Trade Committee is screening a documentary called ‘Connected by Coffee’ followed by a speaker from Dynamite Roasting Company, a local roaster who participates in the fair trade system. Guests from Ten Thousand Villages and the French Broad Food Co-op will be tabling on how they offer fair trade products to our community.

How to be an ‘Ethical Shopper’

Together with Ten Thousand Villages and UNC Asheville faculty, we hosted a panel discussion on fair trade – what is it, why is it important to support and ways consumers can shop more ethically. This event was hosted by the Block off Biltmore downtown, a meeting space promoting conversations around social, economical and environmental issues.

Fair Trade Tea and Treats Table

Our Fair Trade Committee is hosting a fair trade tea and treats information table after a highly attended Humanities lecture. We’ll be in the lobby with fair trade tea, chocolate and various goodies to educate and promote fair trade on and off campus.

Come out to our first Fair Trade Self-Care tabling event! Make your own face mask or lip scrub using Fair Trade certified ingredients and learn more about how the Fair Trade movement promotes sustainable livelihoods for farmer and workers and protects the environment.

Hosting: The True Cost Documentary, followed by discussion

During our club time which will take place during community time, we will show the documentary, The True Cost. The film introduces the term Fast fashion and its impact on the environment, economy, and labor practices. discussion to follow the film.
